DUCE scoops prestigious national award for exemplary financial governance

The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), has been honoured with a national prestigious award for exemplary performance in implementing recommendations of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) for the 2022/2023 financial year.
This recognition to the Constituent College of UDSM was presented by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, at the opening of the Annual General Meeting of Board Chairs and Chief Executives of Public Institutions, in Arusha on 28th August 2024.
Receiving the award, at this meeting which was organized by the Treasury Registrar’s Office and held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), UDSM Vice Chancellor and Chairperson of the DUCE Board, Prof. William A. L. Anangisye, commended the college's administrative team for their diligence in managing public funds.
He said that the award was a testament of the College’s unwavering commitment to financial integrity and transparency. "This award affirms DUCE's unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity”.
“Our commitment to ensuring that public resources are managed with utmost trustworthiness aligns with the government's directives and the President's vision. We will continue to oversee the college's financial operations rigorously, ensuring that every shilling contributes to the institution's and the nation's development goals”, said Prof. Anangisye.
Strategic vision and future commitment
DUCE Principal, Prof. Stephen O. Maluka, expressed gratitude in the achievement and stressed on the ongoing responsibility to maintain and exceed these standards.
“While we take great pride in this award, we recognize the enormous responsibility that comes with it. We remain committed to working tirelessly on accountability and we will continue to collaborate closely with the CAG to sustain our financial discipline and transparency”, said Prof. Maluka.
Meanwhile, the Chief Internal Auditor at DUCE, CPA Mohamed Salum Ngenzi reiterated the College's dedication to comply with all legal and regulatory frameworks and adhere to strategic plans that ensure every action taken yields tangible benefits for the country.
“At UDSM, we are determined in observing laws, guidelines, and strategic plans that govern public institutions. Our primary goal is to contribute effectively to national development, which is the core objective of our government”, he said.
