UDSM and Superdoll Aim for Solid Collaborations on Training and Research

By UDSM Staff Writer,

The University of Dar es Salaam and Superdoll, a manufacturing company and a subsidiary of Super Group, are set to collaborate on various areas of research, training, and creation of employment opportunities for the Tanzanian youth, as a means to support development of the two institutions and the nation at large.

This commitment was made by the leaders of the two institutions, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam, Prof. William Anangisye, and the Managing Director of Superdoll Trailer Manufacture Company Limited, Mr. Seif Seif, when the former and other UDSM officials paid a courtesy call to Superdoll headquarters in Dar es Salaam on Friday 6 May, 2022.

Prof. Anangisye said that UDSM was willingly to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Superdoll Company as soon as possible in areas of research and training, and commended for relevant and creditable work it is undertaking to address societal problems.

“We are very much impressed with the good work that you are doing, including how you deal with and conduct, for instance the gap analysis in terms of employability  of our graduates; we are ready to collaborate with you on research and innovation”, said Prof. Anangisye.

According to the Superdoll Managing Director, Mr. Seif, Superdoll Company has operated successfully in the Eastern African region for more than 40 years, creating employment to more than 12,000 individuals, especially Tanzanians. The company works in the areas of automobile; manufacturing of spares and industrial products; cargo haulage and logistics; and agriculture.

In addition, the two organizations plan to be conducting comprehensive industrial training jointly to both lecturers and students in order to equip them with all the necessary basic hands-on skills, to supplement the theoretical knowledge acquired.

Superdoll Company, whose core values are honesty, integrity, ownership, innovation and teamwork, has invested in training and skills development to match with the requirements of the global competitive labour market. Its transformative agenda is based on three core Cs namely character, competence and chemistry.

“Our focus has always been two-faced, investment and patriotism for our country and society at large. This is the reason we work hard to instill good character and competence to our youth so that they can meet the expectations of the industry”, said Mr. Seif.

Similarly, the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Research of the University of Dar es Salaam, Prof. Bernadeta Killian, emphasized that, there are several areas that UDSM can collaborate with Superdoll such as research, innovation and public service.

“We have so many areas that we can collaborate in such as undertaking joint research and commissioned research; nurturing of incubators and start-up companies and addressing other missed opportunities”, said Prof. Killian.
