Institute of Marine Sciences Library
The IMS library is part of the University of Dar es Salaam main library and forms part of the ICT Unit of the Institute which also houses the National Oceanographic Data Centre.The library plays a key role in facilitating ocean and coastal research in the country.
The library is located within IMS which is located at Buyu, Zanzibar. It can accommodate a maximum of 90 students at a time.
The library has a collection covering a wide range of subjects of print and electronic information including Fisheries, Marine research and Expeditions, Legislation, Oceanography, Socio-economics, Coastal Zone Management and Marine resources.
The services offered by the library are Reference services, Borrowing and Renewing Services, User training, Consultation, Interlibrary Loan and Wi-Fi services.
The Library also provides an electronic resource including Subscribed and Open Access. The Subscribed e resources are Ebscohost, Wiley Online library, Nature Science and Education, Emerald Insight, Taylor and FrancisOnline and Springer. The Open access includes Research 4life, JSTOR and IMF Library.
