School of Education

Welcome to the School of Education (SOED), where we stand ready to serve you. As an integral part of one of Tanzania's largest and most esteemed universities, we are at the forefront of quality teaching and impactful research. Departments

The School of Education comprises three dynamic departments:

  • The Department of Educational Foundations, Management, and Lifelong Learning (EFMLL).
  • The Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies (EPCS).
  • The Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS).

Each department is led by a Head of Department, and the School is overseen by the Dean.

Undergraduate Programs

SOED offers five undergraduate programs leading to the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Education Adult and Community Education – (B.Ed ACE).
  • Bachelor of Education Commerce – (B.Ed COM).
  • Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Education – (B.Ed ECE).
  • Bachelor of Education Physical Education and Sport Sciences – (B.Ed PESS).
  • Bachelor of Education Psychology – (B.Ed Psy).

We also provide pedagogical services to Bachelor of Arts (B.A) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with Education students in the Colleges of Social Sciences (CoSS), Humanities (CoHU), and Natural and Applied Sciences (CoNAS).

Postgraduate Programs

SOED offers a range of postgraduate programs, including:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
  • Masters of Arts in Education (MAED).
  • Masters of Education in Applied Social Psychology (MED ASP).
  • Masters of Education in Science Education (MEd.Sc.Ed).
  • Masters of Education Language Education (MED LED).
  • Masters of Education Management and Administration (MEMA).
  • Masters of Education Physical Education and Sport Sciences (MED PESS).
  • Masters of Education Curriculum Studies (MED CS).
  • Masters of Education Adult Education and Community Development (MED AECD).
  • Ph.D. (by Coursework and by Thesis).
