UDSM creates supportive environment to engage employees and maximize performance. UDSM staff are accessible to University sports grounds and are free to join various sports clubs such as football, basketball, netball, tennis etc.
Retirement eligibility
Retirement age ranges from 55 to 60 years of age for administrative staff and academic staff at the rank of lecturer where by at age 55 one can retire on voluntary basis and compulsorily retire at 60 years. Retirement for senior academicians from the rank of Senior lecturer to Professor is 60 years for voluntary retirement and 65 years for compulsory retirement.

Retirees are entitled to lump sum retirement package offered by the pension fund and monthly pension for the entire life.
Retirees who are beneficiaries of NHIF are also entitled to health insurance together with the spouse as per NHIF regulations.
- New employee’s information
We welcome our new employees to UDSM. After you have signed your employment contracts you may visit the Smart Card Unit to collect your staff Identity Card and visit Social Services Directorate to register for National Health Insurance.
