Library ICT Section
The ICT Section provides IT support, as well as technology services, solutions, and strategies for the entire library community. Specifically, the section offers the following services:
- Managing the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): This is an online bibliography of the library collection that is available to the public; an electronic form of catalogue used to facilitate the location and access of library resources.
- Managing Institutional Repositories (IR): IR is an online archive for the collection, preservation, and dissemination of digital copies of intellectual outputs of academic or research publications of an institution. These could include journal articles, reports, and digital versions of theses and dissertations.
- Provision of Access to Networked Information Resources: Library users are assisted in accessing various networked information resources such as databases, electronic scholarly journals, and other publications from various publishers. ICT helps to manage information overload by making information retrieval easier in computerized systems.
- Managing All Digital Resources Available in the Library: Overseeing and maintaining all digital resources within the library.
- Implementing Security and Access Control to Library Resources: Ensuring that library resources are secure and access is appropriately controlled.
