The Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam invites all applicants for the Chinese Language Short Courses (Evening/weekend Courses).

The Main Objective

The main objectives of CI-UDSM are to meet Tanzania’s growing need to understand Chinese language, culture, technology, and skills and to increase mutual understanding among the people of China and Tanzania.

CI-UDSM also acts as a platform for socio-political and economic exchanges and collaborations between China and Tanzania.

In addition, CI-UDSM is meant to stimulate research on various aspects of Sino-Tanzania relations, including history, education, science, and technology.

Besides, CI-UDSM acts as a link between the University’s students and companies in Tanzania.

Vision

The Confucius Institute at UDSM devotes itself to satisfying the demands of Tanzanian people who learn the Chinese language, enhance understanding of the Chinese language and culture by Tanzanians, strengthen educational and cultural exchange and cooperation and deepening friendly relationships between China and Tanzania, promote the development of multi-culturalism, and build a harmonious world.

Mission

Chinese language teaching;

Training Chinese language instructors and providing Chinese language teaching resources;

Conducting and overseeing the HSK examination (Chinese Proficiency Test) and tests for the certification of Chinese language teachers;

Providing information and consultation services concerning China's education, culture, and so forth; and

Conducting language and cultural exchange activities between China and Tanzania.

Tshs 120,000 for UDSM students

Basic Chinese Level II

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Tshs 150,000 for secondary school students

Intermediate Chinese Level I

Duration: 2 Months each level

Tshs 200,000 for UDSM staff and students from other universities, and Tshs 300,000 for others

Intermediate Chinese Level II

Jan - Mar, Apr - Jun, Jul - Sept, Oct - Nov

Application Fee: Tshs 10,000/=
